My New “Piggy Bank”

In a previous post, I talked about working on my money mindset and getting my budget and finances under control. So this week I went to the $3 store, our version of the one dollar store. I think most people are familiar with dollar general or dollar tree videos on YouTube.

The plan was to buy a generic piggyback to drop my coins into at the end of each day, then at the end of each week, I empty it and deposit whatever I saved into my emergency fund.

However, after purchasing it and placing the coins I had saved so far inside, I realized, it was pretty empty, so instead I will either wait until it’s full or do a monthly deposit.

Saving money is all about consistency. I want it to become a habit, something I don’t have to hem and haw about, I just do it automatically. The past year has taught me so much, and if I want to be able to help others, I have to begin by helping myself first, and not feeling guilty about it. Whether I save 25¢ or $100 as long as I save something every day.
