Book Reviews: Sugar Walls by Brittani Williams on Audible

This audio book follows the story of a young girl desperate to escape her abusive mother and fulfil her dream of going to college. Sugar, that’s her real name by the way, takes a job working for Dyna, who runs an exotic escort service. Things start great but this quickly changes.

Through a series of bad and sometimes naive decisions, Sugar finds herself running her own gentleman’s club with a man she hopes is the love of her life, except he happens to be her sister’s baby daddy. To make matters worse, people from her past are out for revenge.

This book took me almost two weeks to finish, and not because it was long, but there were moments when I wanted to rip out my earbuds and yell “we were all rooting for you” at Sugar.

I had to take breathers. It was for me an emotional roller coaster. And I know other listeners may not have felt that way, but the book just struck a chord with me. The angry look on my face along with my black face mask had me looking like Shredder. Kinda scared management a few times teehee.

All in all, it was a great listen and I look forward to reading more of the author’s work.

Until next time, Happy Reading.
