My summer started out great.
Reading list picked out, making progress, less going on at work so more time to catch up on my reading and do my personal challenge. Great!
I get called in to the manager’s office and told that I will be training in another department as well as doing my usual duties. Now do not get me wrong, it is a great opportunity, but the schedule is a whole other story.
My shifts went from predictable to wonky. And by the time I got home or went on my lunch break, reading was the last thing I wanted to do. I just wanted to sleep.
So after a few weeks I realized that I just need to change my method. Audiobooks. The great thing about my training is I am pretty much working unsupervised most of the day and I have minimal interaction with other staff members or customers. So I could work and listen to books with my headphones.
I am currently on my fifth book and it has been a really great experience.
My completed list so far is as follows:
- The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley
- Proof of Love by Chisa Hutchinson
- Firefighter Sea Dragon by Zoe Chant
- The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck by Robert Petkoff
I look forward to finishing my fifth book which is Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid.
It has been a truly great experience, one I plan to continue, but paperbacks and my kindle pad with always be my first choice. And when my vacation comes, I will be turning pages and tapping away with glee.
